Full-day private tour
Cap Bon Tour: Kerkouane, El Haouaria Caves and Korbous

How the Cap Bon Tour Runs
We drive the Cap Bon tour as a loop: up the east coast in the morning and down the west coast after lunch. As a result, you never drive the same road twice, and every leg shows you a new stretch of sea. This is also the day with the most photo stops, from the beaches of Kelibia to the cliffs above Korbous. Just ask the driver to pull over.

Stop 1: Kerkouane, the Only Punic Town Left Standing
Kerkouane was abandoned in the 3rd century BC and never built over. That is why its streets, houses and pink terracotta bathtubs are Carthaginian, not Roman. You can even see the sign of Tanit set into a doorstep. The site is small, flat and faces the sea, so an hour is enough. Before it, you pass the Byzantine fort of Kelibia above its beach.

- Time here
- About 2 h with Kelibia
- Ticket
- About 8 TND, with museum
- Walking
- Flat and short
- Shade
- None, bring a hat
What you see
- Punic houses with their bathtubs still set in the floor
- The sign of Tanit carved on a doorstep
- A small museum at the entrance, included in the ticket
- The Byzantine fort of Kelibia above the beach
Stop 2: The El Haouaria Caves at the Tip of Cap Bon
At the northern tip of the peninsula, quarrymen cut the stone that built Carthage. They dug downwards, not outwards, and left tall pyramid-shaped chambers open to the sky, with the sea echoing below. On a clear morning, you can see Sicily on the horizon. Thirty to forty-five minutes is enough, and the village has good fish restaurants for lunch.

- Time here
- About 1 h 30 with lunch
- Ticket
- A few dinars
- Walking
- Damp and slippery in places
- Known for
- Falconry and Sicily views
What you see
- Ancient quarries cut as pyramid-shaped chambers
- Views over the strait towards Sicily, 140 km away
- El Haouaria village, home of a yearly falconry festival
Stop 3: Korbous and Its Hot Springs
Korbous is a spa village wedged into a cleft at the water’s edge, used since Roman times. Just beyond it, the Ain Atrous spring runs out at about 45 °C straight over the rocks and into the sea, and many visitors dip their feet in. The cliff road that leads there is one of the finest drives in Tunisia, and it is usually the last photo stop of the day.

- Time here
- About 1 hour
- Entry
- Free
- Bring
- Swimsuit and towel
- Road
- Winding, along the cliff
What you see
- Ain Atrous, a hot spring that flows into the sea
- Thermal baths used since antiquity
- The cliff road over the Gulf of Tunis

Tips for Your Cap Bon Day Trip
This is an outdoor day by the sea. These four points make it more comfortable.
Pack a swimsuit
You can swim at Kelibia beach and at Ain Atrous. There are no changing rooms, so wear it under your clothes.
Mention travel sickness
The road from El Haouaria to Korbous is full of bends. Tell the driver, who will slow down and stop when needed.
Cover your head
Kerkouane has no shade at all. Bring a hat and water from June to September.
Come in spring
From March to May, the orange groves around Nabeul are in bloom and the scent reaches the road.

Cap Bon: Common Questions
Timing, swimming, the road and the best season.
How long is the Cap Bon tour?
About 7 h 30 door to door from Hammamet, plus lunch. That is 1 hour of driving each way, 1 hour between the stops and about 4 h 30 of visits.
How much does a Cap Bon tour cost?
€90 per car for 1 to 4 people from Hammamet, and €130 from Sousse, Port El Kantaoui or Tunis. The price covers the car, fuel and the driver. Kerkouane costs about 8 dinars per person.
Can you swim during the day?
Yes, in two places: Kelibia beach below the fort, and Ain Atrous near Korbous, where the hot spring meets the sea. Bring a swimsuit and a towel.
Can you really see Sicily from El Haouaria?
On a clear day, yes. The island is about 140 km away and shows on the horizon from the tip of the cape. Spring and autumn mornings give the clearest air.
Is Kerkouane worth the visit?
Yes. It is the only Punic town that was never rebuilt, so you see a Carthaginian home as it was, with its bath set into the floor. No other site in the Mediterranean shows that.
Can I start from Tunis?
Yes. From Tunis we enter the peninsula through Korbous and drive the loop the other way round. The stops stay the same.
